Itinerary

Racha Yai

Currently there are four different charter companies running two dive day trips to the island of Racha Yai.

Racha Yai is the most popular dive site immediate dive to Phuket. Only an hour and a half boat ride from Chalong Bay, Phuket. It provides a range of marine life that is popular for both beginner and novice divers. The calm, clear waters at Racha Yai is ideal for beginner divers and experienced divers who’ve been out of the water for a while. The 2 dive day trip to Racha Yai should have you back at Chalong Pier at about 2:30pm.

Racha Yai contains a few small wrecks, the most commonly dived is the Harruby wreck and to the north in Siam Bay there are some monument style statues situated in about 20 metres of water.

Racha Yai is Phuket’s most popular day trip destination, accessible to all levels of divers and snorkelers. Coral begins almost immediately at the waters edge and starts to taper off around the 20 metre mark. The east side contains the majority of the dive sites and is popular during the summer months May to November. Good visibility that usually averages around the 20 metre mark. A decent dive site that we would recommend for beginners and anyone learning scuba diving in Phuket.

Unfortunately most of the dive sites here fell victim to the coral bleaching in 2010. This severely affected the coral and subsequently the marine life. Whilst the dive site provides enough for the beginner and novice diver it may not be as exciting for experienced divers.

Transfers are free from the following areas Patong, Kamala, Kalim, Kata, Karon and Chalong. All other areas will incur a transfer surcharge.

All boats provide breakfast and lunch, snacks and drinks with the only extras being soft drinks and beer on the way home.
