We depart at 08:00 am and head south to the river town of Cai Be, a rural district of Tien Giang province in the Mekong Delta region of Vietnam. Arriving at around 10:00am, we get on board for a journey through Cai Be floating market, one of the wholesale floating markets in the region.
Here, we will experience how life functions on the delta, as we view the intricacies of commerce – how merchants purchase products from local farmers. During our cruise the town’s secluded canals, we will visit some workshops, see the locals making pop rice cakes, rice paper cakes, coconut candies and products from coconut trees.
Special thing of our cruise in CaiBe will be the wooden sampan paddling down narrow natural waterways. Stopping at a local home to try seasonal fruits (such as longan, pineapple, watermelon, rambutan, papaya, jackfruit etc..) and we walk around the orchards, see how farmer take care of their fruit trees. Back to our boat again for a long cruise through Dong Phu , Hoa Ninh island to An Binh island where we have lunch, served with many Vietnamese’s delicious dishes.
Time to relax and have a rest or walk around garden of longan nearby. We get on board again and cruise over CoChien – a big branch of mekong river to VinhLong. Then we turn on to a small waterway for long cruise to Long Ho. We will stop to see a workshop making palm leaves roof. Then, we keep cruise to Cai Ngang village. There are many rice mills along the river. Our van pick us up in Cai Ngang and transfer to CanTho.
We will take a short walk to local homestay. We will then either have free time to explore the village or, optionally, our chef will teach you how to prepare a traditional meal with.
