The emerald tinted clear seas around Koh Chang island itself offer a quite few nice snorkeling sites, but they can’t really compete to the famous dive- and snorkel areas in the Koh Rang national marine park area, south of Koh Chang.
Around Koh Rang, Koh Thang Lang, Koh Yak, Koh Nok and Koh Wai there is still an abundance of magnificent live corals and a very varied underwater world with many colorful fish and other sea life, making it THE best spot to snorkel in the east of Thailand, if not there entire country.
Although a half day snorkel trip to these outer islands is also available, we highly recommend not to rush it and take the full day trip so you will have plenty of time to see all the underwater beauty, but also spend a little while on the truly tropical white sand beaches where we will stop for our taste lunch. Some of these islands should probably be called islets, as it’s not more than a top of a coral island sticking out of the sea, so swimming around them is a great thing to do and should be done as peaceful and quiet as possible.
